A 3D-printed bracket is the entire trick. Builder bob-foss took a hinged keyboard case designed for an older iPad Mini and fitted it to a high-end Lenovo gaming tablet by replacing the original Apple-specific tablet holder with a custom-printed part. The result is a compact, clamshell machine that looks like it belongs in a bag, not on a workbench.

The netbook category peaked around 2010 and died partly because manufacturers deliberately crippled specs to protect laptop margins. This build sidesteps that history entirely: the compute is a current Lenovo gaming tablet, the keyboard is a known-good existing product, and the only custom fabrication is one printed component. No wiring, no driver hacks, no compromised hardware.
