Matvey Kukuy designed and 3D-printed a passive steam capture tool, the Coffee Steam Dryer V2, to safely handle the jet of superheated steam and water expelled during espresso machine steam wand purges. The device is printed in ABS or ASA for heat resistance, has no moving parts, and disassembles for cleaning.
The mechanism is purely geometric. Steam enters the top inlet, passes through a series of expansion chambers that entrain cool ambient air, and exits redirected away from the user. Condensation drops out along the way. No valves, no electronics, no consumables.
