Smashing Magazine has published its May 2026 wallpaper collection, continuing a 15-year-running series of free, community-contributed desktop wallpapers. Every piece is artist-originated, with no editorial interference on theme or direction. Each wallpaper ships in more than 20 resolutions, from 640x480 up to 3840x2160, with and without a May calendar overlay.

The collection includes work from international contributors, among them Ricardo Gimenes of Spain, whose piece 'Happily Invisible Online' leads the set. That title alone signals something worth clicking through: the full article lets you see every design at scale before downloading, and the range of themes reflects what happens when artists are given zero creative constraints.

If you contribute original work, Smashing Magazine will feature it in a future monthly edition. The submission process is open and ongoing. The full article is worth visiting directly to browse every resolution option and see which designers made the cut this month.
