German designer Simon Weckert has built a fabric that defeats AI person-detection systems. The pattern uses saturated, high-contrast colors specifically tuned to attack the image-recognition algorithms used in surveillance pipelines. In his published tests, cameras scanning the scene fail to classify him as a human.

The tradeoff is immediate and visible: the garment is conspicuous to any human observer, trading AI invisibility for maximum human attention. The deeper problem is longevity. Adversarial pattern attacks against object-detection models are a known vulnerability, and vendors patch them. Weckert does not address how many training cycles it would take to neutralize his design entirely.

This follows a line of prior work, including the Glaze project from 2023, which used similar adversarial logic to protect artwork from generative AI scrapers.
