Salim Benbouziyane built a fully functional Linux cyberdeck inside an Altoids tin. The TN Deck runs on a Raspberry Pi Compute Module Zero, a castellated PCB variant of the Pi Zero W, and packs a screen, QMK keyboard, speaker, and rechargeable power supply onto a single custom PCB within those 97mm x 62mm metal walls.
The keyboard is entirely scratch-built: dome tactile switches on the PCB, a TPU flexible membrane on top, 3D-printed keycaps, and legends burned in with a desktop IR laser marking machine. Travel is minimal and ergonomics are a known compromise. The build also includes a D-pad and gamepad buttons. A 3D-printed drill guide handled precise hole placement in the tin for the audio jack, which is a small detail that reveals how carefully the tolerances were managed throughout.
The full build log and schematics are on GitHub at sb-ocr/tndeck. Read the original to see how power, audio, and the custom keyboard matrix were routed on a single board at this scale, and how Benbouziyane's previous CM Deck compares in ambition and execution.
