A Galaxy S21 5G now lives inside a computer mouse. Builder Gadget Industry stripped the phone to its core components, fit them into the battery compartment of a wireless mouse, and used Samsung DeX to run a full desktop environment without touching the OS.

The choice of hardware matters here. Starting with a Galaxy S21 means skipping the extra complexity of layering Linux on Android or flashing PostmarketOS entirely. DeX does the work. A brass insert handles heat spreading, roughly equivalent to the thermal management the phone had originally. The video shows no obvious throttling under load.

The build raises the right questions: what counts as a PC, how far Samsung DeX can be pushed as a daily driver, and whether the thermal ceiling holds under sustained workloads. The original is worth reading for the disassembly details and the specific fitment problem that brass solves.
