Prime Video released the full trailer for Spider-Noir at CCXPMX26 in Mexico City, dropping it in two formats: black and white and a colorized version the showrunners call 'True Hue.' Nicolas Cage stars as Ben Reilly, a hard-boiled private investigator in 1930s New York who doubles as a street-level superhero called The Spider.
The character is not Peter Parker. Co-showrunner Oren Uziel deliberately chose Ben Reilly because Parker's boyish high school identity clashes with noir genre conventions. Cage previously voiced a Spider-Noir variant in Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse (2018) and Across the Spider-Verse (2023), and will reprise that animated role in the still-unreleased Beyond the Spider-Verse. This live-action series is a separate continuity, rooted in Marvel's 2009 noir comics line.
The dual-format release strategy and the Reilly-over-Parker casting decision are the details worth digging into.
