Nintendo's Talking Flower dropped from $34.99 to $29.99 at Amazon and Walmart. The toy is based on the quippy flower character from Super Mario Bros. Wonder, the 2023 Switch platformer. It has no microphone, no internet connection, and no alarm function despite tracking your sleep schedule.

What it does: announces the hour, reads room temperature via a built-in thermometer, and fires off pre-programmed remarks at random intervals. You can press a button to force output if you don't want to wait. Language selection is supported, mirroring the game's feature. The $110 Alarmo this is not.

The Verge's Andrew Webster went hands-on and found it delivers low-dose whimsy, occasionally nudging him to eat lunch or slow down. Amazon reviews are split between irritation and affection. That tension, a $30 gadget that annoys you into liking it, is the reason to read Webster's full piece.
