Reto Project is selling the Kodak EC35 for $34.99, undercutting its own $99 Snapic A1 by a wide margin. The specs are disposable-camera territory: 25mm acrylic lens, fixed f/10 aperture, 1/100 shutter speed, manual wind and rewind, built-in auto flash.
This is not a feature-rich camera. The A1's double exposure mode and zone focusing are gone. The EC35 ships in four colors and is built for one job: point, shoot, don't think. It has one notable feature Reto hasn't fully disclosed yet.
That undisclosed sliding feature is reason enough to read the full piece at The Verge. At this price point, the EC35 positions itself as a gateway drug to film, and the spec tradeoffs between it and the A1 are worth understanding before you buy either.
