Datasette 1.0a34 ships row-level insert, edit, and delete directly in the UI. These controls live on table pages, with edit and delete also surfaced on individual row pages.
The trigger was Datasette Agent, which gained SQL write support on June 15, 2026. The absurdity of an AI chat interface supporting data edits while the core UI did not finally forced the issue.
The release notes are brief, but the GIF walkthrough in the original post shows the actual interaction flow. Worth opening if you run Datasette instances and have been working around this gap with raw SQL.
