OpenAI's Codex has moved beyond developer tooling. At an unnamed enterprise, Wei Loke, head of Enterprise Platforms and Technology, reports that finance teams now use Codex as a core workflow tool, not an experiment.

The use cases are specific: procurement and accounting apps built internally, month-end executive reports, vendor review dashboards, journal entry preparation, and slide and memo generation. These are not engineering tasks. They are the daily output of finance organizations.

The argument worth reading in full is how a code-generation model becomes infrastructure for non-technical roles. The mechanism, the friction it removes, and the skill floor required are the details that will tell you whether this translates to your org.
