A delivery driver built a push-to-talk voice interface for Claude Code called Walkie Claudie, solving a real problem: you cannot type prompts or read responses while driving.

The setup runs on a smartphone with a direct network connection to a PC hosting Claude. Bluetooth earbuds handle push-to-talk input. Speech recognition converts voice to prompts, and a TTS engine reads Claude's responses back. A hold-open mode keeps the channel active during long pauses. VPN support extends the range beyond local network. The UI mimics an old-school walkie-talkie LCD, complete with synthesized squelch and channel-switch audio cues.
