KryonOS is a JavaScript-based operating system for the ESP32, built by developer Haris and targeting boards with screens, including the Cheap Yellow Display.

It ships with a GUI, a graphics library, a built-in JS runtime interpreter, full SD card filesystem access, a hardware API, and an app store for downloadable software. That last feature draws a direct comparison to Badge.Team, whose SHA2017 badge ran a similar model using Python and spawned a device ecosystem that is still active today.

The full project on GitHub is worth reading for the API design and app store architecture, not just the headline feature. If MicroPython normalized scripting languages on constrained hardware, KryonOS is betting JavaScript is next, and the size of the web development community makes that a credible argument.
